Welcome To Living In His Light

Choosing a name for a personal blog is not an easy task. I thought about naming it many different things, but came back to Living In His Light over and over again. There are a number of reasons…

I have had many dark seasons in my life - whether it be grief or lonliness, seasons of waiting, sinful struggles, and bouts of depression. Only the light of Christ is what could shine forth to the darkest places of my grief or hardship.

1 John 1:5 says, “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” If our good God is light then what an invitation it is to live out our faith in HIS light. Nothing we do comes from our own good merit, but only by His grace dwelling in and through us can we live out his light to the world around us.

In John 12:46, Jesus says, “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”

The world... including our culture, country, and even the deepest parts of our hearts are surrounded by much darkness. This blog is a place to point us back to the light of Christ in ALL things. Can I bring you back to the light of Jesus when I share stories of struggling with infertility? Yes. Can I point you to look to the light of Jesus if I share thoughts on food culture? Yes. Can we cling to the light of Jesus as we navigate the pros and cons of social media usage? Yes.

Further still, the greatest darkness we face is the darkness that lies within - our hearts that are so easily tempted and led astray by sin. The light of Christ through the gospel sets us free from ourselves and cleanses us. If you are in Christ, then as DC Talk puts it, you are in the light. ✨

Welcome to Living In His Light.

May HIS light be your guide through dark times, valleys, good times, mountaintops, and everything in between. 🙏
